The Reference 54 alto takes its inspiration from a 1958 mid-70,000 serial number Mark VI. I have used the Reference tenor in many jazz/improvised music settings and classical saxophone quartet, and I find the horn to be superbly suitable for both jazz and classical music. The horn was handpicked at Selmer Paris in 2003, and is very good.
